HONOR FLIGHT – LEXINGTON
FRI 06 JUN 2014
Seeking qualifying Veterans in Central and Eastern KY
Family members, friends of Veterans, military support organizations and Veterans service organizations, community service clubs and others that know our heroes who have never visited their national war memorials in Washington D.C., are encouraged to apply online or seek more information.
Deadline for applications is March 31, 2014.
BMAC is pleased to be working with flight sponsor Hallway Feeds to provide the first air departure from Blue Grass Airport to Washington D.C., as part of the national Honor Flight program.
This history making event is scheduled on the 70th Anniversary of the World War II D-Day Invasion of Europe at Normandy France, that helped turn the tide and assure Allied victory of World War II in Europe.
BMAC is most appreciative of this sponsorship being made by Hallway Feeds, that is commemorating its 50th year of operations, in gratitude for the military service of Veterans. “Many such flights have been conducted from Louisville’s airport,” said Hallway Feeds Vice President Lee Hall. “But getting to that airport was prohibitive for some Veterans residing in eastern and southeastern counties of KY. A Lexington flight will allow more of America’s heroes to take this amazing journey and we wanted to help make that happen.”
The flight is being organized with Honor Flight Bluegrass Chapter, the Louisville KY-based all-volunteer non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization that provides free trips to Veterans to allow them to see national war memorials dedicated in their honor and located in the nation’s capital city. The volunteer organization is dedicated to honoring the selfless service of Veterans. These flights provide participating Veterans some time for camaraderie and to reflect upon their military service, memories and sacrifices that have benefitted all Americans and freedom loving people around the globe. It transports our heroes at no cost to the Veteran. Top priority is given to the senior Veterans – World War II survivors, along with those other Veterans who have been diagnosed with a terminal illness.
