Veterans Week VETERANS APPRECIATION WEEK KENTUCKY Annually the Bluegrass Military Affairs Coalition (BMAC) facilitates Veterans Appreciation Week. The events provide the public with multiple opportunities to honor and express their appreciation to living veterans, remember the missing, commemorate the dead and recognize all who today bear arms to defend our Constitution, country and freedom. Salute to Women Veterans Luncheon -A Public Event- Noon Wednesday 14 November 2007 Radisson Plaza Hotel Lexington, KY The public was invited to an event to recognize and honor citizens who have served this nation in its military. From every era...WWII, the Korean War, The Cold War, Vietnam War, Panama, Granada, Gulf War, OIF and OEF, the military veterans of America are owed thanks.
This event highlighted contributions of women veterans and saluted those in attendance. One of their own, MAJOR Barbara Slater USAR, recently returned from a year deployment to Operation Iraqi Freedom. She talked about her experiences in her role as OEF/OIF Program Manager at the VAMC LEXKY.
SPONSORSHIPS Businesses, government agencies, military units, military support and veterans service organizations were solicited to sponsor tables to provide seating for uniformed female members and veterans.

Dinner & Awards -A Public Event- 6p Thursday 15 November 2007 Radisson Plaza Hotel Lexington, KY
Presented by BMAC and The NAVY LEAGUE of the U.S. Central Kentucky Council Veterans were invited to join BMAC and the NLUSCKC at this dinner in their honor. All businesses, government entities, churches and individuals were encouraged to participate in order to express their gratitude and respect for our veterans. Black tie optional.
Rear Admiral William VanMeter Alford, Jr. United States navy (Retired), who recently completed his last tour of active duty made remarks. In August 2004, Rear Adm. Alford was recalled to active duty to serve as the United States Pacific Command Chief of Staff.
