VETERANS APPRECIATION WEEK KENTUCKY

Annually the Bluegrass Military Affairs Coalition (BMAC) facilitates Veterans Appreciation Week. The events provide the public with multiple opportunities to honor and express their appreciation to living veterans, remember the missing, commemorate the dead and recognize all who today bear arms to defend our Constitution, country and freedom.

Please, take time to visit veterans in area federal and state veterans hospitals and homes: VA Medical Center Cooper Drive and Leestown Road, Lexington, KY (859)233-4511; and, Thomson-Hood Veterans Center, Wilmore, KY (859)858-2814.



VETERANS APPRECIATION DAY DINNER "Vets Eat FREE"
11 NOV 2009, 5:30-6:45 pm

The Bluegrass Military Affairs Coalition (BMAC) invites all Veterans of the United States Armed Forces to enjoy a delicious FREE meal at Porter Memorial Baptist Church on 11 NOV 2009, Veterans Day, from 5:30-6:45 pm.

For the dinner, pick up Vet Eat FREE meal vouchers and purchase meal tickets at Porter Memorial Baptist Church office, 9 am - 4 pm Mon-Fri, no later than MON 09 NOV 2009. Citizens, friends and family members are encouraged to eat dinner with our veterans, $4 per person for their meal, $2 for ages 4 and under. Meal tickets will not be available at the door the evening of the event.

With gratitude for their service and sacrifice, military members and veterans will eat free upon proof of military service.

COMMUNITY VETERANS DAY OBSERVANCE
11 NOV 2009, 7:15 pm
Porter Memorial Baptist Church
4300 Nicholasville Road
Lexington KY 40513
(U.S. 27 South, one block south of Man O'War Blvd.)

At 7:15 p.m. in the sanctuary at Porter Memorial Baptist Church, the public is invited to recognize and honor veterans at the annual Community Veterans Day Observance.

The featured presentation will be made by Lieutenant Colonel Anthony G. Dotson, U.S. Army (Ret), Coordinator of the University of Kentucky Veterans Resource Center and G.I. Bill Student Vets of OEF and OIF. A patriotic concert will be performed by Porter Memorial Baptist Church Choir. The Observance emcee will be Sam Dick, News Anchor on WKYT Channel 27, Lexington.

Veterans are encouraged to wear medals/ribbons to this event, by request of the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Currently serving military members are requested to come in uniform of the day.  

The Community Veterans Day Observance is presented by the Bluegrass Military Affairs Coalition (BMAC).  BMAC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit tax exempt, non-sectarian, non-partisan civilian organization of patriotic individuals, businesses, government entities, all branches of the United States military and veterans.  Its purpose is to promote the awareness of and educate the public about the armed forces of the United States of America and their contributions to our safety, the preservation of our freedoms and their state of readiness.
