"Vets Eat FREE" preceding Community Veterans Day Observance

Lexington, KY-Two tours in Iraq, one in Afghanistan, a year in Vietnam and Korea, three years in World War II. Veterans have made sacrifices to defend democracy and freedom. The public is invited to participate in this annual community observance of Veterans Day, to express gratitude for the military service of veterans.

The Bluegrass Military Affairs Coalition (BMAC) invites all Veterans of the United States Armed Forces to enjoy a delicious FREE meal at Porter Memorial Baptist Church on 11 NOV 2009, Veterans Day, from 5:30-6:45 pm.  


234th Annual Navy Ball

Distinguished Guest and Featured Speaker is Duane R. Bushey, Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy (Ret.) Technology Educator.  
 


“The Wall That Heals” to visit South Central Kentucky

Bowling Green, KY - The Wall That Heals, a half-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., will be visiting South Central Kentucky September 24 - 27, 2009. Open and manned 24 hours a day, The Traveling Vietnam Veterans Memorial is being brought to Bowling Green by Aviation Heritage Park and will be set up at the park located at 1825 Three Springs Road (the corner of Three Springs and Smallhouse Roads) in Bowling Green.


202nd AG Band tours the Commonwealth of Kentucky

In 16 performances, the 202nd AG Band will perform as a marching band, rock band, brass band and concert band while touring the Commonwealth of Kentucky during summer 2009.  


KDVA Deputy Commissioner Margaret Plattner, LCDR(Ret.) USN to deliver remarks at Memorial Day Observance at The Lexington Cemetery

The last Monday in May is set aside to remember those men and women who died in military service to their country. Lexington's official observance ceremony will be held at The Lexington National Cemetery, located just inside the front gates of The Lexington Cemetery. The service, which begins at 11 a.m. on MON 26 MAY 2008, will feature remarks by Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs Deputy Commissioner Margaret Plattner, LCDR(Ret.) USN, the presentation of colors, playing of "Taps," and a 21-gun salute. Participating will be the men and women of American Legion Man O' War Post No. 8 and its Ladies Auxiliary. The public is invited to join The Lexington Cemetery in remembering and saluting those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.


BMAC presents Armed Forces Week 2009

As U.S. Armed Forces continue to prosecute the War on Terror, world wide, Americans need to be reminded that peace and freedom in the United States of America have been earned throughout history by the sacrifice of everyday citizens who left their homes to go to war.  
 
The period of May 11-17, 2009 will be celebrated as Armed Forces Week. For more than 50 years the third Saturday of May has been annually proclaimed Armed Forces Day by the President of the United States and Commander-In-Chief. Civilians in central Kentucky are invited to join the Bluegrass Military Affairs Coalition (BMAC) to celebrate the unity and common purposes of the United States Armed Forces, and to honor dedicated American men and women in uniform who serve selflessly to preserve democracy and freedom at home and around the world in times of war and peace.


BMAC presents Veterans Day Observance of Central Kentucky TUE 11 NOV 2008 at 7pm

LEXINGTON, KY--Two tours in Iraq, one in Afghanistan, a year in Vietnam and Korea, three years in World War II. Veterans have made sacrifices to defend democracy and freedom and now it is time to honor them for their services.  
 
The Bluegrass Military Affairs Coalition invites the community to its Annual Veterans Day Observance of Central Kentucky at 7 pm on 11 November, 2008 at Anchor Baptist Church, 3601 Winthrop Drive, 1/4 mile west of Nicholasville Road on Man O' War Blvd.  
 
The program will consist of remarks by KDVA Commissioner Les Beavers BG(R) USA, a patriotic concert performed by Song of the Bluegrass, presentation of Outstanding Volunteer Service to Veterans Awards, presentation of colors by USMCR CoA LEX KY and a performance of The National Anthem and TAPS by Sandra Chesnut, Bugles Across America. The Observance emcee will be Dave "Kruser" Krusenklaus, host on NEWS TALK 590 WVLKAM.


USS Kentucky Sailor to Re-enlist in Capitol Rotunda

FRANKFORT, KY-Master Chief Machinist's Mate (SS) Peter A. Arriza will be re-enlisting in the Navy 4 pm on Wednesday, April 16, 2008 in the Capitol Building Rotunda. He is currently serving aboard the USS Kentucky Gold Crew as the auxiliary division leading chief petty officer. His commanding officer, Commander Benjamin Pearson III, will perform the ceremony. Following the re-enlistment, Lieutenant Governor Daniel Mongiardo will present Pearson, Arriza, and eight additional USS Kentucky crew members with Kentucky Colonel Commissions, including Electronics Technician (SS) Michael Mires, a Horse Cave-native.
